Applied Disturbance Fire and Ecosystem Restoration

NOTICE: Thank you for visiting the ADFER website. In August 2024 I left OSU (and academia!) to take up a position as Head of Agriculture with the Falkland Islands Government. This website will remain live for a short period as a record of the work completed by staff and students associated with the lab

We are part of The Ohio State University's School of Environment and Natural Resources and affiliated with the Forest Ecosystem Restoration and Ecology Lab.

Our research focuses on understanding the ecological effects of variation in disturbance regimes and developing methods for the restoration and management of terrestrial ecosystems.

On-going projects include studies of disturbance and fire effects on vegetation community composition, habitat structure, carbon cycling and soil quality. Current research sites include temperate, semi-arid and tropical ecosystems in Ohio, the western United States, South America and northern Europe.
